چکیده

Surface mo lity such as swarming is thought to precede biofilm forma on during spread of infec on. Popula on of swarming bacteria P. aeruginosa, major infec on in hospitals, will be shown to efficiently propagate as high density waves that move symmetrically as rings within swarms towards the extending tendrils. Mul -scale model simula ons suggested a cell-cell coordina on mechanism of wave propaga on which was recently shown to moderate swarming direc on of individual bacteria to avoid an bio cs [1]. Then a novel model [2] will be discussed which systemically couples bacterial, extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and solvent phases in a biofilm.

A Short Review of Advances in the Modelling of Blood Rheology and Clot Formation

Several advances have taken place since the early 2000s in the field of blood flow modelling. These advances have been driven by the development of assist devices such as Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), etc., and by the acceptance of in silico tests for the generation of hypotheses concerning clot formation and lysis. We give an overview of the developments in modelling of blood rheolo...

A Study on Ratio of Loss to Storage Modulus for the Blood Clot

In this study the rheology of blood clot is measured with the help of rotational rheometer. Several shear strain (0.5, 1 and 2%) are applied with two frequencies (5 and 10 Hz) from the incipient time of clot formation and the response of the sample is measured with the form of shear stress and the phase lag which is interpreted with storage and loss moduli. In this study the ratio of loss to st...

Inhibition of Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formation by 2,2’-bipyridyl, lipoic, kojic and picolinic acids

Objective(s):The inhibitory effects of iron chelators, and FeCl3 chelation on biofilm formation and swarming motility were investigated against an opportunistic human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Materials and Methods:The inhibitory activity of 2,2’-bipyridyl, lipoic acid, kojic acid and picolinic acidonbiofilm formation of P. aeruginosa strain PAO1 and three clinical isolates (P. aeruginos...

Multiscale modeling and simulation of brain blood flow.

The aim of this work is to present an overview of recent advances in multi-scale modeling of brain blood flow. In particular, we present some approaches that enable the in silico study of multi-scale and multi-physics phenomena in the cerebral vasculature. We discuss the formulation of continuum and atomistic modeling approaches, present a consistent framework for their concurrent coupling, and...

Simulation and Experimental Studies of Mineral Scale Formation Effects on Performance of Sirri-C Oil Field under Water Injection

Water injection is an enhanced oil recovery method which is applied for number of reservoirs especially in the offshore fields around the world. Sea-water injection process is usually associated with important concerns affecting the efficiency, safety, and economy of the operation like formation damage, mineral scaling, early breakthrough and corrosion. Incompatibility between injected and ...
